the precision of the demodulation method depends on
the accuracy of the phase adjustment. In addition, there
are losses associated with demodulation, which usually
involve switches and the associated charge injection
and timing jitter. It is difп¬Ѓcult to achieve 12-bit precision
under these circumstances. Introduction
Linear variable differential transformers (LVDTs) are
theoretically inп¬Ѓnite-resolution displacement measurement devices. An LVDT operates by comparing the
magnetic п¬‚ux coupled into two transformer secondary
windings to determine the displacement of a moving
transformer core. A low distortion sine wave acts as
the input. The amplitude and phase of the output signal across the two secondary windings determine the
distance and polarity of the LVDT core with respect to
the center.
Proper signal conditioning circuitry allows extremely
precise measurements in demanding applications,
such as in production manufacturing, п¬‚uid level measurements and structural/strain testing. One common
application is to use an LVDT at the end of a Bourdon
tube to measure minute changes in system or barometric pressure. A better approach to LVDT signal conditioning is shown …

The LTC1668 is a new 16-bit,
50Msps differential, current output
DAC in a small SSOP package. It has
a 10mA full-scale output and a 1V
output compliance and it achieves
20ns settling to 0.1% into 50в„¦ loads.
The LT1807 is a 325MHz, 140V/Вµs
precision, low noise dual op amp available in a small MSOP package. Its
combination of precision, low noise,
high bandwidth and fast slew rate
make it ideal for high performance
signal conditioning and acquisition
systems. Together, these components
create a fast, precise, versatile, low
distortion VOUT DAC with minimal
PCB space requirements.

LT1807 applied as a dual I/V converter to extend the LTC1668вЂ™s
